The Kitchen After a Gulf Coast Shrimp Boil

Carol · CEO

There are meals you can prepare without leaving much evidence behind.

A Gulf Coast shrimp boil is usually not one of them.

The evening may start with one large pot, but before long the sink is full, the counter has been used from one end to the other, seasoning has made its way onto places nobody remembers touching, and someone is looking for a second trash bag.

That is part of the fun.

Fresh Gulf shrimp and seafood are deeply connected to the coastal communities around Mobile, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and shrimp boils continue to be a familiar way for families and visitors to gather around a meal.

But once dinner is finished and everyone walks away from the table, the kitchen looks very different from the one that started the evening.

The obvious cleanup happens first. Plates get collected, the large pot goes to the sink, leftovers are stored, and the table gets cleared. After that, the kitchen can already look reasonably clean.

The smaller details usually show up later.

A little seasoning has settled beside the stove. There is a faint splash near the cabinet below the sink. Something landed underneath the edge of the counter instead of on top of it. The refrigerator handle has been touched repeatedly by people looking for drinks, butter, sauces, or another lemon.

Even the floor tells the story differently. The center may look perfectly fine while the areas underneath stools, around the trash can, and beside the cooking area have collected the evidence of everyone moving around the kitchen.

None of this means the meal created a disaster.

It means the kitchen did exactly what a kitchen is supposed to do.

That is also why detailed cleaning after a busy evening is different from simply putting everything away. Once the dishes are gone, the surfaces underneath them become visible again. Counter edges, cabinet fronts, appliance handles, the faucet base, backsplash areas and floor edges can finally receive the attention they were not getting while dinner was happening.

And there is something especially satisfying about walking back into that kitchen the next morning.

The seafood boil happened.

Everyone ate.

The conversation lasted longer than expected.

But the counters are fresh again, the sink is clean, the floor feels good underfoot, and the kitchen is ready to become an ordinary kitchen again.

At Deluxe Cleaning Services Pro, that everyday reset is an important part of residential cleaning throughout Mobile and surrounding Gulf Coast communities. The company serves homes from Mobile and Baldwin County communities such as Daphne, Fairhope and Foley to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

Living near the Gulf means enjoying the things that make this region feel like home.

Sometimes that means beaches.

Sometimes it means seafood.

And sometimes it means looking at the kitchen after everyone leaves and thinking:

That was absolutely worth cleaning up.
